Sgt. James C. Robinson, 27, of Lebanon, Ohio, died Aug. 28 at Paktika, Afghanistan, when insurgents attacked his unit with indirect fire. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

His awards and commendations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, and was weapons qualified and an M4 expert.

He is from Lebanon, Ohio and attended local schools graduating in 2001 from Monroe High School. He is survived by his wife, his two daughters, and his parents. Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Claude Vanover and Barbara Anthony; great grandmother, Malvena Robinson; great grandfather, Granville Robinson; aunt, Penny Ledford; and cousin, Clay Hollon. He is survived by his wife Kate Robinson, (they were married in February 2005); two daughters, Emily and Victoria; parents, Jim and Kim Robinson; paternal grandparents, James and Audrey Robinson; one brother, Johnny Robinson and fiancée Tangi Bell; one sister, Amber Henderson and husband, SSG. Corey Henderson; aunt and uncle, Mitch and Lisa Ledford and their children, Hanna, Cooper, and Sophie; aunt, Dawn Hampton and her children, Kirstie and Christopher.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 8, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Old Monroe High School Auditorium, 225 Macready Ave., Monroe, Ohio Funeral services will by Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Old Monroe High School with the Military Chaplain officiating. Interment will be at Springboro Cemetery, Springboro, Ohio with full military honors by the Army Military Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Thank You Foundation, P.O. Box 899, Lebanon, Ohio 45036.
