Per his wife's pension application, Ezra married Abigail Spencer of the 27th day of November, 1768 in the town of Northeast, Dutchess County, NY. She also states he served as a 1st Lieutenant in Capt. Elisha Barlow's company and Col. Roswell Hopkin's regiment of the State of New York, Gen. Clinton's Brigade. He entered service on May 1, 1776 from Northeast, serving until fall when he returned home ill and spent the winter recovering.
In the spring of 1780, the family and 5 children moved to Stillwater, Albany County, arriving there on May 1, 1780.
Around 1807 Ezra moved to Cayuga County, near the south side of the town of Scipio. He died there July 22, 1824.
Ezra was the son of Luke and Elizabeth (Holly) St. John.
