COOKEVILLE A memorial service for Brigadier General Clarence Eugene Bradley, 78, of Richmond, Va., will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 9, at Whitson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cookeville City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:30-11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
General Bradley died on Tuesday, June 3, 2003.
He was born on Dec. 3, 1924, in Smith County to the late Jesse Walter and Hattie Mae Peacock Bradley.
He began his professional career with the VFW. He later accepted a position with the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover. General Bradley served in the military a total of 37 years, first as a veteran of the Pacific Theater of World War II, then in the Washington, D.C., Army National Guard, and full time duty with the Virginia Army National Guard, where he retired as Brigadier General in 1981. After retiring from the military, he worked for the Henrico County Division of Police. He was an active member of Welborne United Methodist Church since 1966.
His family includes his wife of 53 years, Betty Sue Johnson Bradley; a son and daughterinlaw, Walter
Russell and Diana Bradley of Alexandria, Va.; a daughter, Patricia Jean Bradley Williams of Richmond; and four grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Michael Bradley.
