Native of Jackson Co, died in McAlester, OK. News has reached here of the death of Mrs. Margaret Pate, which occurred at her home in McAlester, OK, Saturday afternoon Jan. 17th at three o'clock following a short illness. Mrs. Pate was formerly of this county, having lived and reared a large family on a farm about two miles north of Flynn's Lick, in the 11th district of the county. She was the widow of Don Pate who preceded her to the grave about 18 years ago. She was a splendid Christian woman, and numbered her friends by her acquaintances. Some twenty two years ago, she moved to Oklahoma to reside, but like most people, she always had a warm place in her heart for her old home place, and during these twenty odd years, she made many visits back home. She was never happier than when she met with her old friends and acquaintances and had a long chat about the days gone by. She is survived by four sons, Albert Pate of Cookeville, TN, Edward Pate of Gainesboro, TN, Rt. 4, Lee S. Pate of Murfreesboro, TN and Walter Pate of Milton, OK; four daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Burgess, Mrs. Evie Speakman, of McAlester, OK, Mrs. Sam Jackson, Ada, OK, and Mrs. Viola Kirkpatrick, Ft. Worth, TX. She is also survived by twenty grandchildren and scores of relatives and friends. Following religious services the remains were laid to rest beside her husband in the McAlester Cemetery. Those of her children present were Mrs. Burgess, Mrs. Speakman, Mrs. Kirkpatrick and Walter and Lee Pate.
