Born in Rutherford County, N.C., he was a son of the late John E. and Mattie Hardin Womack.
He was a member of Chiquola United Methodist Church and was retired from Chiquola Mfg. Co. He was a former pitcher and one of the last surviving members of the Chiquola Mills Textile League Baseball team.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army World War II, having served in the Philippines and was awarded the Bronze Star and also participated in the occupation of Japan.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth W. (Libby) Mundy and husband Len of Abbeville and two grandchildren, Dr. Ben Womack and his wife Shari of Pensacola, FL, and Jason Mundy of Abbeville.
He was predeceased by a son, James William Womack. He was the last member of his immediate family.
Funeral services will be held at Chiquola United Methodist Church with Rev. Jones Brewer officiating.
Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery.
