Marvin L Bauser, 73, of Godfrey, died at 8:05 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 1987, at Alton Memorial Hospital. Bauser was a barber for 30 years, during which time he served as secretary/treasurer of Barber's Union No. 81. He owned Bauser's Barber Shop in Alton for 14 years before retiring in 1973. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was born in Bluffs, Ill., son of the late Ralph and Nora (Six) Bauser. He married the former Earlene Green on August 8, 1942 in Bowling Green, MO. She survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Donna Graham of Alton; one son, David L. Bauser of Godfrey; six grandchildren, and three brothers, Richard and Ralph Bauser, both of Alton, and Leland Bauser of Brighton. He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Schuessler. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Alton with the Rev. Russell J. Weise officiating. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with full military honors by VFW Post 1308 of Alton. Memorials may be given to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the building fund of the church, of which Bauser was the treasurer for 12 years. When Marvin L Bauser was born on June 10, 1914, in Bluffs, Illinois, his father, Ralph, was 20 and his mother, Nora, was 22. He married Dorothy Earlene Green on August 8, 1942, in Bowling Green, Missouri. They had three children during their marriage. He passed away on December 1, 1987, in Godfrey, Illinois, at the age of 73.
