Doris J. (Shields) Barner, 78, widow of Grant R. Barner, of 2030 E. Winter Road, Eastville, Pa., passed away Friday, Aug. 27, 2010 at Jersey Shore Hospital, Jersey Shore.

Born on June 6, 1932 in Jersey Shore, she was the daughter of the late Harry B. and Claire R. (Forcey) Shields.

She was a 1950 graduate of Jersey Shore High School and a member of the Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren, Eastville, Pa.

Doris was a homemaker the majority of her life and enjoyed quilting, puzzles and seamstress work.

She is survived by five sons, Walter (Peg) Barner of Loganton, Jerry (Nancy) Barner of Winston, Salem, N.C., Dale (Pam) Barner, Springfield, Tenn., Jim (Vicki) Barner, Jersey Shore, Gordon (Lori) Barner of Jersey Shore, a daughter Barbara (Larry) Munro of Jersey Shore, a twin brother Dale C. Shields of Jersey Shore, two sisters Phyllis (Don) Eggler of Woolrich and Olive Miller of Woolrich, 26 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three sons, Frank Barner, Kenny Barner abd Mark Barner, a daughter Susan Smith, three brothers Harry R. Shields, Donald L. Shields and Ralph J. Shields and three sisters Velda Mims, Evelyn Clark and Bernice Barner.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren, Eastville, Pa., with Pastor Ken Geisewite and Mr. William Mauck officiating. A visitation will be held in the church on Monday, Aug. 30, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. Final interment will be held in the adjoining church cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Wayne P. Urbine Funeral Home, Inc., 95 E. Main St., Loganton, Pa. "Our Family...Serving your Family."
