Funeral Rites Held for Sumatra Matron

Forsyth, Jan. 12--(Special)

Funeral Services for Mrs. Reinhold Mathwig of Sumatra were held from the Methodist church in Forsyth Wednesday afternoon by the Rev. George Reid, pastor, and interment was made in the Forsyth cemetery.

Mrs. Mathwig, the wife of one of the well-known ranchers of the Sumatra community, had lived there since the family moved from Aberdeen, S.D. in 1913. She had been ill for sometime but her condition was not thought to be serious until Saturday, and on Sunday she was brought to the Rosebud Memorial hospital here, where she passed away that evening.

Mrs. Mathwig was 43 years of age and is survived by her husband and three children, Hilda, 15, Walter, 13, and Harvey, 8 years of age, as well as by her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Arendsee of Westfield, Wis., a sister, Mrs. Lena Hatcher of Vendel, Minn., and by five brothers, Gus, Leon, and Rudolph Arendsee of Westfield, William Arendsee of Minneapolis and Elmer Arendsee of Idaho.

The deceased was born in Westfield, Wis., on June 28, 1885. She grew to womanhood there and was married on Sept. 11, 1911 to Reinhold Mathwig.

A large number of friends and neighbors from Sumatra were present at the funeral services here Wednesday. Music was furnished by the Sumatra choir.
