SOUTH BEND - Betty Ruth Beckham, 78, of South Bend, passed away during the morning hours of Friday, August 27th, in Memorial Hospital. Betty was born in Wayne County, TN, on August 31, 1931, to the late Herman and Helia (Haataja) Balentine. In February 1952, she married Billy Beckham, who preceded her in death in 1991. Betty was also preceded by her daughter, Kathy Beckham, in 1967. Betty is survived by two brothers, Ralph Balentine of Elizabethtown, KY, and John Balentine of Niles, MI; and one sister, Anna Hairell of Florence, AL. She is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews, and 14 great-nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, August 30th, from 2 until 3 p.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel at Fairview Cemetery. A service celebrating Betty's life will be held at 3 p.m., with Chaplain Deborah Hewitt officiating. Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, assisted the family with arrangements.
