First married William Henry Taylor 6-12-1940. He died while in France as a paratrooper in WWII in 1944. Married second husband-Robert Joseph Pettit in Carson City, NV 4-25-1945. He was Chief Water Tender-US NAVY, World War II. She served in the war effort in Los Angeles as "Rosie the Rivetor".
Sylvia and Robert are buried together; they share the same headstone; Robert on the front, Sylvia on the back. They had three children together. After Robert died, Sylvia was a devoted companion to David Hinton Middleton for over 32 years. Sylvia gave of herself all through her 92 years including playing "Mrs. Clause" for over 25 years to church and school groups. Following in her mother's footsteps, she was a devout Catholic, and an "Angel" to all who knew her.
