Eva Mae Shanks Shell White, 83, died Oct. 6, 2000, at Spokane, Wash.
She was born May 17, 1917, at Copeland, the daughter of Charles and Della Mae Cox Amos. She was a longtime Stafford resident before moving to Spokane. She was the owner and operator of the Powder PUff Beauty Salon in Stafford. She was a 1936 graduate of Stafford High School and attended Sidney's Beauty School in Hutchinson, where she also taught.
She was a member of the Nazarene Church of Stafford, participated in the Missionary League, taught vacation bible school, member of the WCTU, Ye Olde Tyme Club, Rebecca Lodge, Stafford Garden Club, was a Cub Scout Den mother and was the county chairman for the March of Dimes.
In 1935 she married Melburn Shanks. In 1979 she married Charles "Cap'' Shell. He died in 1982. She then married John White in 1991. He survives.
Other survivors include one son, Blaine Shanks of Wichita; one daughter, Gaylene Youngberg, Salina; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.
The burial of her ashes will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 25, at the Neola Cemetery with Pastor Ron Moser officiating. Minnis Chapel, Stafford, is in charge of arrangements.
