Titusville Herald, July 29, 1918:

"The remains of Mrs. Hester Jennings, who died at Warren Thursday evening were brought to this city and prepared for burial by E.L. Cummins and yesterday the body was taken in Mr. Cummins' motor hearse to Chapmanville, where funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. in the Methodist Episcopal church, Rev. S.E. Miller of Sunville officiating. Music was rendered by Mrs. Albert Morse and Frank Proper, with Mrs. Lela Ritchie at the organ. They sang, "Shall We Meet," "Asleep in Jesus" and "Sweet By Thy Rest." Mrs. Jennings was about 80 years of age and was born in Mercer county, and was married to Uriah J. Jennings who died thirty-four years ago. She spent a greater portion of her life in the vicinity of Chapmanville, and leaves two sons, William Jennings of Bradleytown and Ernest Jennings of Greenville, two daughters, Mrs. Frank Smith of Guys Mills and Mrs. Elizabeth Young of Meadville, a brother, Joel Smith of Saegertown, eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren".
