MONTPELIER - Barbara Jean Smith Dunn, 85, was born in Ogden, Utah, on April 12, 1925, to George Martin Smith and Wanda Mathias.
She married Herbert Ellis Smith on September 25, 1941, in Malad, Idaho. They had eight children: Wanda Jean Dunn of Montpelier, Herbert Michael (deceased), Gwen Ardella Nichols (Larry - deceased) of Ellington, Missouri, Cheryl Ann Rigby (Thomas) deceased, Richard of Montpelier, Rodney Lynn (Virginia) North Ogden, Utah, Terry Lee (Rhonda) Ozark, Arkansas, Jana Lee, Blackfoot, Idaho.
Later they were sealed in the Salt Lake City temple on October 6, 1967. They lived in Washington Terrace, Ogden and North Ogden, where he died in 1979. Barbara moved to Bennington in 1980, and moved into a cabin in Maple Canyon.
She married James Morton Dunn November 6, 1987. She sold the cabin in 1993, and moved to a home she bought. James M. died September 2, 1998.
She loved to crochet, quilt, worked on genealogy books for her children, and play the harmonica. She worked at two different canneries, and got a job in the cafeteria at the Ogden Depot, where she retired. She was a visiting teacher and worked in the family history center in Ogden.
She has 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dolores Ardella D'Amico, one great-granddaughter, Morgan C. Thornton/Smith, and one great-grandson, Derek Watts.
She moved in to the Bear Lake Manor on September 3, 2004, and lived there till her health took her to the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital and then to the nursing home, where she died on August 21, 2010.
