My father's first cousin, Opal Bennett Wells (daughter of Herbert Bennett and Frances HARTLEY and granddaughter of Rachel Frances Parker Hartley), wrote a book entitled "A Book of Remembrance" which contains 156 pages, the last 30 of which contain her family history/genealogy. It has short sections on the Parkers, the Odoms, the Spearses, the Hartleys, and the Bennetts. There aren't many copies of it. Joann Hartley Williams shared her copy with me.

Opal Bennett Wells lived in Red Level and knew quite a bit about her family. Here is part of her first page on "The PARKERS":

"My grandmother Hartley was Rachel Francis Parker before she married my grandfather. She was born in the year of 1851 to Samuel and Rachel F. Mason Parker.

Opal described Rachel in her Book of Remembrance as follows: "My grandmother, Rachel Frances, was one of the best people I have ever known. She had a kind and sweet voice. It seems sometimes I can hear her singing. She could play the piano beautifully and had never had a single lesson. Grandma was a small woman. She worked hard as long as she was able. She loved her church, and she was a good neighbor. I am planning to meet her up in heaven one day."
