Homer Angell Dead.

His Unexpected Death Shocks The Entire City.

Homer Angell passed away last Monday forenoon at about 10:30 after a brief illness. He was taken recently with a cold which had gradually developed into la grippe and pneumonia, and although it was evident he was a very sick man it could hardly be believed he was in danger, when the next news was received that he was dead.

The funeral services were held from the residence in the south part of the city Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Carman, and the K.O.T.M. attended in a body, he having been a charter member of the local lodge. The floral tributes were very numerous and very beautiful.

Homer H. Angell was born in Ghent, N.Y. Oct. 28, 1849 and died at his home in Belding Feb. 17, 1902. Age 52 yrs. 3 mos. and 19 days.

The earlier part of his life was spent in the East except two years that he lived in Kansas. He came to Michigan about twenty-two years ago and located in Belding. He was united in marriage to Miss Janette Watson May 5th, 1886 and there were born unto them two children, Carleton and Howard.

For one year after he came to Belding he engaged in shipping stock East, then he went into business with his brother Joseph which continued for about 8 years, and after this time he purchased the home where he resided until his death. He was of a family of seven children, six boys and one girl, and he is the first of the children to go. The parents having passed away some years before.

He was a birthright member of the Quaker church, yet the teachings of his early life always followed him, and the peculiar doctrines and practices of the Quaker faith were a little dearer to him than any other.

The sterling integrity of his anticedants marked his life in the business world. He was known and respected by all. A devoted husband, an indulgant father, an affectionate brother and a kind friend.

His removal from among us is a stroke that has come sudden. While his health has not been good this winter, none had thought him in a dangerous condition.
