Jed Adelbert Mooney
Jed A., son of Jed & Mary Elizabeth (Holtslander) Mooney was born April 11, 1884 at Necedah, Wisconsin, and his early childhood was spent in Wisconsin. He moved with his parents to Thurston, Nebraska in 1897 and later to Pender, graduating at class valedictorian in 1903 from Pender High School. On July 15, 1905, he married Katherine Lydia (Scott), daughter of Samuel & Lydia (Feige) Scott. Katherine had been born in Linn Iowa April 19, 1889.
Jed and Katherin homesteaded at Mayflower in McPherson County, Nebraska, in 1906 where they also operated the Mayflower Post Office and Store. In 1920 they moved to Mason City where they operated the King Roller Mill until the dam was taken out by a flood in 1923.
Jed & Katie had six children, Mae, Violet, Blanche, Jed H., Jay W., & Verdna.
Jed & Katie celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary with their entire family present in July 15, 1971 before Katie passed away on August 25, 1971. Jed A. passed away on May 22, 1975 at the Jennie M.M.M.M.Hospital in Broken Bow, NE. at the age of 91.
