Mary Elizabeth (Holtslander) Mooney
Funeral Services for "Grandma Mooney" were held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday July 20, 1954 at the Mason City Church. Burial was in the Mason City Cemetery.
Mrs. Mooney died Sunday morning at her home after a lonf illness which had confined her to bed for over three years.
Mary Elizabethwas daughter of Henry and Mary (Butler)Holtslander, was born June 3, 1862 at Lyndon Station, Wisconsin where she spent her younger years.
She was united in marriage on Jan. 1, 1883 to Jed Mooney. They resided in Necedah, Wis. until 1897 when they moved to Nebraska, going first to Pender, then to Mayflower where they ran the post office from 1906 to 1914.
They then moved to Mason City which has been her home ever since. She was a faithful member of the Methodist church, the Rebekah lodge and the Royal Neighbors.
She leaves to mourn her passing two sonns, Jed A & Katie Mooney, Jay A. Mooney both of Mason City; four grandchildren, Blanch & Carl Bernert, Jed H. & Glennie Mooney, Jay W. & Leah Mooney, and Verdna & Erroll Schue; seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews and many friends.
Pallbearers were Leo Spencer, George Payne, Marvin Mortensen, Wright Chamberlain, Bert Philpot & Oscar Wilson.
