LAFAYETTE - Elvira Johnson, 95, of 251 Seventh Street, Lafayette died Thursday, November 2, 2006 at the New Ulm Medical Center.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7 at the First Lutheran Church in Lafayette with Rev. Garry Grunzke officiating. Burial will follow in the Clear Lake Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.

Elvira Marie Anderson, the daughter of John and Olga (Klodt) Anderson, was born Sept. 9, 1911 in Sibley County where she attended District 56 schools.

She was united in marriage to Lloyd W. Johnson September 14, 1939. The couple farmed Lloyd's home place until 1971 when they retired and moved to Lafayette. Lloyd died in June 1974.

Elvira was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Lafayette. She grew up in the Clear Lake Lutheran Church and joined the Lafayette Methodist Church when she married, where she was an active member for more than fifty years. She was formerly a member of the Auxiliary of the Good Samaritan Home volunteering there for many years, and of the Lafayette Senior Citizens, prayer chain, and Bible study.

Survivors include her son, Bob and his wife Sheree of Bloomington; grandchildren, Brian of Minneapolis and Kathryn of Philadelphia, PA; sister, Elaine Zolldan of Marine on St. Croix; brother, Hobart Anderson and his wife Charlotte of New Ulm; sister-in-law, Marjorie Nelson of North Port, FL; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Linnea Doe in March 2006; brother, Harry in 1925, and a brother in infancy.
