From a 1908 Nance County Nebraska newspaper clipping file, transcribed by Linda Berney:

Mrs. Sherman Baker died early Wednesday morning at her home in the west end of the county of ptomaine poisoning, after an illness of but a few days. She was 37 years old and had lived in this county a number of years. One of the saddest features of the case is the family of nine children left without a mother's care. The funeral will be held tomorrow at Palmer.

When five years old she, with her parents, moved to Montgomery county, Iowa, where on Sept. 21st, 1889 she was married to Andrew S.
