Obituary Notice – Western World – 10 October 1929
Mrs. Frances Flam, wife of Joseph Flam, passed away at the family home in Bandon early Monday at the age of 70 years. Mrs. Flam was a member of the pioneer family of Hamblock, and for many years lived in the Parkersburg district. She had been in ill health for more than a year before her death, but suddenly became much worse Saturday evening and passed away early Monday morning.
Mrs. Flam was born January 17, 1860 at Kansas City, Missouri, and came to Oregon in 1870. She was married to John William Perkins on December 1, 1878, and to that union was born one child, Mrs. Ethel Oakes of Portland. Mr. Perkins died on April 23, 1892. Four years later, on December 24, 1896, she was united in marriage to Joseph Flam.
Besides her husband, Joseph Flam, she is survived by her only child, Mrs. E. E. Oakes, who was not able to reach Bandon until after her mother's death; also a sister, Mrs. T. W. Drane of Parkersburg; two brothers, John and Eugene Hamblock, brothers of Parkersburg, and three grandchildren, Mrs. L. T. Roselle of Bandon, Ms. Gladys Oakes of Portland, and Wallace Oakes of Phoenix, Arizona.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon in Bandon and burial made at the IOOF Cemetery here. Mrs. Flam was a member of the Christian Science Church and services were conducted by that church.
