INSCRIPTION ON STONE:
In Memory of Joshua Black, a Carpenter. Born in Maryland October 3, 1783 Died in Indianapolis, December 4, 1879 where he located in 1826. A first lieutenant in the war of 1812. A member of the council of Indianapolis in 1842 & 43 and of the methodist church during his entire residence in that city. He loved his family, his Country and his God.
