HARCOURT - Donald E. Anderson 85, of Elkhart, Ind., formerly of Annandale, Minn., and Harcourt, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010 at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at Faith Lutheran Church, Harcourt, with Pastor Julian Swanson officiating. Burial will be at Lost Grove Cemetery, Harcourt, with Military Graveside Rites. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Church until service time. Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie, is serving the family.

HARCOURT - Donald E. Anderson, 85, of Elkhart, Ind., formerly of Annandale, Minn., and Eldora, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010 at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at Faith Lutheran Church, Harcourt, with Pastor Julian Swanson officiating. Burial will be at Lost Grove Cemetery, Harcourt, with Military Graveside Rites by the Greenfield-Hartquist American Legion Post #699. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Church until service time. Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie, is serving the family.

Don is survived by his wife Vicky; daughter Kristine (Fred) Roetker of Elkhart; and son Martin (Kim) Anderson of Vining, MN; granddaughters, Sheridan (Matthew) Phelps, Erin Roetker, MaraBraaten, and Danielle Anderson; sisters, Delores Soppeland of Boulder, CO, and Darlene (Dick) Hade of Ames. He was preceded in death by his son John; his parents; and brother, Dale.

Donald E. Anderson was born of Swedish descent to Clem and Ethel Berglund Anderson on Oct. 17, 1924 at Harcourt, Iowa. He graduated from Harcourt High School. Don served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, where he was a member of the "Flying Tigers". He served in the China-Burma-India Theater, piloting both P-40's and P-51's. He flew multiple excursions of the "HUMP". Don worked in agricultural sales for most of his life. He was a lifetime of the American Legion, and the VFW, where he served as Commander of several Posts.
