Chester Dexter Sr. Passes Away
Chester Dexter, Sr., 84, passed sway in s hospital in Logansport on February 11, 1950 after an illness of 18 months.
He was born in Holland in November 1864 and came to this country in 1887 to settle in Chicago. Preferring country life, he left the city and came to this community where he lived for about 55 years engaging in farming.
In 1891, he was united in marriage with Ida Stiemstra. She preceeded him in death in November 1924.
He had been a member of the Remington Presbyterian church for about 35 years and was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 351. He retired from farming at the age of 70.
He is survived by five children; three sons, Capt. William Dexter, Great Falls, Montana; Cornelius S. Dexter, Oxford and Chester Dexter Jr. and two daughters, Mrs. Ella Baxter, Wabash and Mrs. Donna Dart of Goodland. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. R. De Groot, Goodland; a brother, Kless Dexter of Chicago, Illinois; twenty three grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. from the Howard chapel with Rev. Leon DeForrest in charge. Interment in the Remington Cemetery.
