Thomas Wymore
A highly respected citizen and pioneer of Pawnee County, James Thomas Wymore departed this life at the family home, two miles west of Bookwalter, Thursday, August 13th. Mr. Wymore received a stroke of paralysis of the brain last November from which he never recovered. The deceased was born April 8, 1838 and thus at the time of his death he was 70 years, 4 months old. He came to Pawnee County, Nebraska from Mahaska County, Iowa in August of 1862 and during the 46 years since has been a resident of this county. He was a faithful soldier of the Civil War, serving in the 2nd Company of the Nebraska Cavalry. Mr. Wymore was a man of genial disposition, kind and obliging as a neighbor, and exerted a good influence in his community. He was reared in the Presbyterian Church, old school. A devoted wife and five children survive to mourn his departure. The three sons, Robert M., Charles and Elliott all reside in this county. One daughter, Mrs. Florence Lucetta lives in Mahaska County, Iowa and the other, Mrs. Nancy E. Fast resides in Deering, North Dakota. Funeral services were held in the Pleasant Valley U.B. Church Saturday afternoon, August 15th, and were conducted by Rev. S. R. Jamieson of this city. Interment was made in Evergreen Cemetery two miles north east of the church.
