PINOLA - James C. "Screwball" McKinley, 62, died May 2, 1986, in St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital. Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home with burial in Rexford Cemetery in Simpson County. Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
A native of Winterville, he worked for Illinois Central Gulf Railroad for 37 years before retiring. A former resident of Jackson, Centerville, Ala., and Star, he had lived in Pinola since 1979. He was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church in Braxton. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jean Dear McKinley, sons, James C. McKinley Jr. of McKinney, Texas, Sam W. McKinley and Jack Monroe McKinley, both of Jackson, and Marshall E. McKinley and Haley Eugene McKinley, both of Star, daughters, Miss Cynthia McKinley and Miss Evelyn McKinley, both of Star, Mrs. Donna Backley of Columbia and Mrs. Harriet Gardner of Byram; mother, Mrs. Grace M. Lord of Jackson; sisters, Mrs. Barbara Barnes of Jackson, Mrs. Carolyn Ridgeway of Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Sara Houchin of Vista, Calif., and Mrs. Martha Monsivais of Pinola; nine grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
