She came to North Central Nebraska with her parents and one sister in a covered wagon in 1883. She was married to Charles S. pettit on October 10, 1900, and to this union six sons were born. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Churist; a member of the American Legion Auxiliary; and a member of the Bethany Chapter No. 113, Order of th Eastern Star, in which Order she was a District Supervisor for several years and served as Grand Ruth in Nebraska Grand Chapter in 1927. Mrs. Pettit was a perfectionist in everything she did. Her hobby was reading which kept her informed of world affairs.
Funeral services were held at the Hoch-Wisda Funeral Home in Ainsworth with Rev. Richard Diede officiating. Memorial services by her Eastern Star Chapter and American Legion Auxiliary were a part of the funeral service. Pallbearers were five nephews, Ronald Hallock, Robert Carr, Jack Carr, Raleigh Carr and Howard Carr, and Ceile Ripley. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Springview, Nebraska.
Mrs. Pettit was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Charles and Clarence; three sisters, Mrs. Blanche Hallock, Mr. Ethel Hallock and Mrs. Anna Lear; two brothers, John E. Carr and Ray L. Carr. Surviving are her sons, Frank and George, McAllen, Texas, Carl of Pendleton, Oregon, and Howard, Napa, California; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. H.G. Thorley, Ainsowrth and Faithe Carr, Springview; and one brother, Frank H. Carr of Springview.
