Diane Kollekowski, 63 years of age, of Beatrice passed away surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer, in Beatrice Monday morning, Aug. 23, 2010.

She was born on Sept. 18, 1946 in Beatrice to Donald T. and Rosemary (Lang) Oates and lived in Beatrice her entire life. She was a 1965 graduate of St. Joseph's Catholic High School in Beatrice and graduated from the Lincoln School of Commerce as a legal secretary. Diane and Jack Trisler were married on April 24, 1965, and to this union one son, Mark Trisler, was born. She then was married to Harley Kollekowski on June 30, 1978 until he passed away on February 29, 1996. She had been employed as a legal secretary at the Gage County Attorney's office for 35 years, and then was a bailiff for the District Court for the past 4 years. She also was a medical transcriptionist for Beatrice Community Hospital for the past 10 years. She was a member of the St. Josephs Catholic Church, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Beatrice.

Diane enjoyed her family and friends, her grandchildren's activities, Husker football and helping people. She was always known to have a joke of story to tell to bring smiles to her family and friends, and also was genuinely interested in other people's lives.

Survivors include her son Mark Trisler and wife Jan, and their children Bryce and Regan of Beatrice; step daughter Luann Faris and husband Jay of Beatrice; step granddaughter Michele Cook and husband Mike and children Cody and Callie Cook of Harrisburg, SD.; two brothers Bob Oates and wife Jennie of Beatrice, and Ron Oates and wife Deb of Crab Orchard; a niece Marnie Oates and her son Dylan; nephews Kyle Oates, Sean Oates, Scott Oates and wife Melissa and Doug Oates; several other great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Rosemary (Lang) Oates; husband Harley Kollekowski (2-29-1996); niece Jamie Oates (1980); and nephew Chris Oates (1988).

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 at the St. Josephs Catholic Church in Beatrice with Father Steve Major officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 11-9 Thursday and from 9-9:00 Friday at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, and at the church one hour preceding the service on Saturday. A scriptural prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in charge.
