Austin Doss was born November 8th, 1919 in Wayne County, being the son of the late Harve and Mattie Tackett Doss, and passed away Saturday, November 15th, 1986 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Lexington.
He was united in marriage to Myrtie Ann Crabtree on September 25th, 1935 and had two children.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving from 1944 to 1946 in Berlin, Germany.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtie Crabtree Doss; a daughter, Anita Doss Crabtree; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Sumpter, Marie Abner, and Louise Barnes, all of Monticello; two brothers, Wallace Doss of Monticello and Clyde Doss of Terra Haute, Indiana; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a son, Harvie Lee and a brother, John Henry.
He accepted Christ and spent many hours in the chapel of the hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 17th at 10 am in the chapel of the funeral home with Brother Ansul Perkins officiating. Burial was in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
