HENRY: Leona E. Nelson, 89, of 1650 Indian Town Road, formerly of Varna and Morton, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
Born May 10, 1914, in Varna to Edward and Martha Rudolph Kaatz, she married Willard Nelson on July 26, 1939, in Nashville, Iowa. He died in November 1989.
She also was preceded in death by one son, James Nelson, on April 14, 1999; and one infant daughter, Judith Lee.
Surviving is one sister, Viola (Mrs. Joel) Jenkins of Varna, IL.
She worked as a beautician in Plainfield and Chicago.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Varna, where services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Peter Glock will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon, IL.
Memorials may be made to her church or Bethesda Lutheran Home.
