IVAN C. STOKES DIES; RETIRED ENGINEER
Ivan C. Stokes, 74, of Frazeysburg, a retired engineer with Buckeye Pipe Line Company, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 25) at his home following an apparent heart attack. He had been in failing health four years.

He was born Aug. 20, 1895, in Morgan County, a son of Joseph and Olive Banford [Danford] Stokes.

Mr. Stokes retired in August 1960, after 42 years with the pipe line company. He was a member of the Frazeysburg United Methodist Church and was a trustee. He was also a member of Dresden Grange and an honorary member of Frazeysburg Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are his widow, Eva A. Stokes, whom he married Dec. 8, 1915; five daughters, Mrs. John Max (Kathryn) Frazier of Frazeysburg, Mrs. Paul (Jean) Oravis of Oxon Hill, Md., Mrs. Don (Janice) Riley of Frazeysburg Route 1, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Leas of Dresden Route 1, and Mrs. Carroll (Joan) Bumpus of Frazeysburg; four sons, Kenneth M. Stokes of Frazeysburg, Ivan Stokes Jr. of Dresden Route 1, Rev. Donald Stokes of Palmer, Alaska, and Robert Stokes, football coach at Muskingum College; 30 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Ada Michener of Palo Alto, Calif.; and a brother Homer of Modesto, Calif. Two sisters are deceased.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Frazeysburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Rozell W. Sattler officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.

Friends may call at Frazeysburg Chapel of Baughman and Sons Funeral Home 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and at the church from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday.
