When Robert L Alexander was born on July 16, 1878, in Fentress, Tennessee, his father, Columbus, was 20 and his mother was Calverna Ramsey Alexander, farmers. The family lived next door to their Parents/Grandparents Robert C and Sarah Ann Alexander's farm. Robert L Alexander married Elvina Brown in 1871 and they had one son together, William Alvin Alexander. He later married Mattie Alexander in 1899. He died as a young father on September 5, 1905, in Tennessee at the age of 27, and was buried in Whittaker Cemetery in Monterey, Putnam County, Tennessee.
