Authority and author of books and articles on American political thought and Colorado politics-publications included: University of Colorado Studies in Political Science No. 1 (1953); Colorado Politics (1960, 1962); Colorado Government and Politics (1964, 1972); Readings in Colorado Government and Politics (editor, 1967); and, The Colorado Preprimary Stystem (1967). Also the author of novels including "The Hills of Home" (1943),. Early in his career in the 1930's, Martin taught in a one-room country school in rural Las Animas County, Colorado near the town of Trinchera.
