William, a farmer, first married Elizabeth Smith and they had six children. He later married Phoebe Frazer. The following is from the Mt. Vernon, Knox Co., Ohio Semi Weekly Republican dated August 24, 1889.

"William Grubb, a well known citizen of Pike Township died Wednesday morning, the result of an attack of congestion of the lungs. He was born January 31, 1811 at Lancaster, Pennsylvania and moved with his parents when he was 3 months old to Stark County, Ohio. Whence he moved in 1834 to Knox Co. where he since resided and where death overtook him at the age of 78 years 7 month, and 7 days. The funeral occurred Thursday at Amity, conducted by Elder J. W. Lowe, and was attended by a large concourse of friends."
