Everett (Mens) Hanson services held Wednesday
Funeral services for Everett W. (Mens) Hanson, 62, were held last Wednesday (Nov. 23) at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Windom.
Mr. Hanson died at his home in Windom on Nov. 20. He had been afflicted with diabetes for the past 25 years, and had been confined to his home much of the time in recent years.
The Rev. Paul Berg officiated at last rites, with interment in Lakeview Cemetery. Pall bearers were Jess Moon, Scott Peipke, Dr. James Dokken, Henry Fast, Bob Skillingstad and James Weir. Harold Thake was usher, and Mrs. Paul Berg was organist.
Mr. Hanson was born at Mt. Lake on April 25, 1915, the son of Mens and Adeline Gohr Hanson. Due to his father's early death and his mother's illness, he was raised by close relatives.
He excelled in sports during his school years and attended Macalester College for two years on a basketball scholarship. He also attended Nettleton College of Business in Sioux Falls.
A World War II veteran of the Pacific Theater, he was employed by the Windom Post Office.
Mr. Hanson was married to Irene Webster in Windom on June 7, 1964. He retired from the post office to assist in his wife's coffee shop in 1973.
Always active in community affairs, he had helped organize the local VFW and Sun Valley Gun Club, and was past president of the golf club, county fish and game club and the bowling association.
His parents and two brothers preceded him in death. Surviving are his widow: a stepson, Allen Webster of Minneapolis; a stepdaughter, Marilee Webster of Windom; three step-grandchildren.
