John "Marion" was the son of William L. Post and Elizabeth Pettit Robbins Post (part Cherokee). He was a fur trader with the Cherokee Indians. He never married. He grew up in GA and in Benton Co., AR.
He was the brother of Mary Arminda Post Gladney, and Tatnall Holt Post. He had two half-brothers on his mother's side, Joshua Robbins and Levi Robbins; and a half-brother John Beaver Post, and two half-sisters Alzerine Post Robbins and Rebecca Caroline Post Robbins. Also, the 1850 Census, Benton Co., AR, lists other half-brothers as Pleasant Post and Joseph W. Post.
