Herman Lee Pate, age 87, of Route 1, Mantee, died Tuesday, July 7, 1992 at West Point Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 8 at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Burial was in Pine Bluff Cemetery with the Rev. Leslie Dodson and the Rev. Nap Clark officiating.

The son of the late John Calvin Pate and the late Della Lee Hurst Pate, he was born in Webster County and lived most of his life in Clay County. He was a retired employee of District Five, Clay County and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his fie, Mrs. Mae Hill Pate of Mantee; one daughter, Jean P Dendy of Mantee; one son, Joe Lee Pate of West Point; five grandchildren, Joey Pate of Greenville, Jeff Pate of Oxford, Allison Blake Naron of Mathiston and Manesha Blake and Suzanne Blake, both of Cedar Bluff; two great grandchildren, Michele Pate and Sarah Pate, both of Greenville; one sister, Mrs. Decima Neely of Maben and two brothers, Clinton Pate of Pheba and Mack Pate, Sr. of Montpelier.

Active pallbearers were John David Pate, Mack Pate, Jr., Roy Lee Pate, Leotis Pate, Glen Pate, Jackie Russell and John David Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Roy Hurst, Jabe Christopher, Everette Springer, Will Frank Walker, Joe T Coleman, Dr. R T Lott and the Staff of West Point Nursing Home.
