Major Owen pioneered with Daniel Boone as a Frontier Ranger, Made Major in the Illinois Militia. Served in his Lifetime as Soldier, Sheriff, Justice of the Peace, Tax Collector, Town Commissioner and delegate to the Assembly for Statehood of Illinois. He established the community of Collegeville, Arkansas. His Grandson was David Owen Dodd, Arkansa Confederate Martyr. He was in on the settling of 7 new states. He died in DeWitt County, Texas at the home of his daughter Eliza Berry (Owen) Williams.Their daughter Eliza is buried in Hebron Cemetery, where a marker exists for her parent's, which states they are buried in Hollan Cemetery.
