Zelma was born the daughter of William & Vivian Johnson VanKlei. She was baptized & confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. On January 28, 1951 she married Gaylen G Benson at the Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson, MN. Zelma passed away at Ridgeview Medical Center at the age of 78.
Zelma is survived by her husband Gaylen; daughter & son-in-law Teresa & Matt Newby; granddaughters Anna Alease & Alyssa Rose; brother Arie VanKlei; sister Jean Waage; sister Hazel (Cy) Molitor; brothers John 'Jack' VanKlei, Jesse 'Peter' (Pat) VanKlei. Zelma was preceded in death by a sister Tillit Kubica.
Memorial services were held on November 13 at Lyndale Lutheran Church in Maple Plain, MN with Rev. John Christensen officiating. Funeral services were held on November 15 at Hadley Lutheran Church in Hadley, MN with Rev. Jon Skaar officiating.
