She was born on the plantation of her grandfather, James Parsons in East Parsons, tucker County, West VA.
After her marriage to Laban P Smith she lived her whole life in Gonzales and was well revered and respected.
They had many children, three of her sons are also buried in the Gonzales Cemetery.

Mahala Parsons was the third daughter of Abraham Parsons and Emily (Parsons) Parsons. Her husband was Laban P Smith. there were married May 15th 1873.
