MONTEREY -- Funeral services for Herman Swafford, 95, of Monterey, will be held at 2 p.m. on Fri., Aug. 6, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Woodcliff Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. today, Thurs., Aug. 5, at the funeral home.

Mr. Swafford died on Tues., Aug. 3, 1999, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

He was born on May 13, 1904, in Putnam County to the late Samuel Jefferson and Ida Belle Walker Swafford. Mr. Swafford was a retired school bus driver and railroad worker. He was a member of the Woodcliff Baptist Church and Putnam County Horse Riders Association.

His family includes his wife of 60 years, Reba France Swafford of Monterey; two daughters, Linda Swafford and Barbara Verble, both of Monterey; a sister, Etta Randolph of Monterey; three grandchildren, Roger Swafford, Angie Norrod and Missy Verble; and four great-grandchildren, Sarah, Katie, Tommy and Tyler.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Hall Swafford; an infant daughter, Anna B. Swafford; a daughter, Geraldine Swafford McCormick; three sisters; and four brothers.

Revs. Dewitt Sampley and Harold Swafford will officiate at the services.
