Mrs. Helen Chapman Counts 90, died Saturday, April 2 2005, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 20, 1915, to Leo and Lelia Akers Chapman. Mrs. Counts was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., having lived in Hayter's Gap community before moving to Abingdon in 1978. She was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, B.L. Counts, and a brother, Lawrence C. Chapman. Survivors include her daughter,Abingdon; a granddaughter and her husband of Birmingham, Ala.; two great-granddaughters, of Birmingham, AL; and a niece of Roanoke.
