Thomas J. Murphy, better known as "Tom" Murphy, 79 years old, died suddenly about 8 o'clock yesterday morning, Sept. 8, 1965, at his home northwest of Baring. Although he had not been well for some time he appeared to be in his usual health and death was unexpected.

The body is at the Kriegshauser Funeral HOme here where rosary services will be at 7:30 o'clock this evening. Funeral services will be at 10 o'clock tomorrow, Friday, morning at St. Aloysius Church in Baring. The Rev. Edwin Schmidt will officiate burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery.

He is survived by two sisters, Miss Pansy Murphy, of the home who came from Kansas City to live with him after the death of their sister, Miss Mary Lillian Murphy, Nov. 29, 1961, and Mrs. Elsie Winningham of Kansas City. He also leaves two nephews, Bill and Dick Murphy, of Hannibal.

Mr. Murphy was one of the nine children of Thomas and Mary Ellen Kehough Murphy and one of the four children who never married. They were born, reared and spent their entire lives on the same farm comprising a total of 268 years. Mr. Murphy was born there April 1886, a brother, James Aloysius Murphy, in 1887, and died 45 years later, April 30, 1932, another brother, John Joseph, in 1883, and died Jan. 15, 1955, at 72 years of age, and the sister Miss Mary Lillian, in 1889, also living 72 years at the same place.He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Gertrude, in infancy, and another brother Oliver A. Murphy, Aug. 28, 1962. His father died Nov. 26, 1921 and his mother, June 8, 1947, they, too having spent the greater part of their lives on the same farm.
