Calvin ``Jay'' Lowe III, 47, of Decatur died Saturday (Sept. 6, 1997) in University of Illinois Hospital, Chicago Heights.
Burial will be in Mount Gilead Cemetery.
Mr. Lowe was born in Melrose Park on Feb. 7, 1950, the son of Calvin and Caryl Nelson Lowe Jr. He was rehabilitation services supervisor for the Illinois Department of Human Services, Decatur Office of Rehabilitation Services, and worked for 25 years for the State of Illinois Rehabilitation Services in various positions. He received his undergraduate degree in education from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and his graduate degree in education from the University of Illinois. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He married Charolette Durbin on Jan. 29, 1972.
Surviving are his wife; son, Calvin Aaron of Carbondale; daughters, Kimberly Dawn of Bloomington; Amanda Kathleen at home; sister, Patricia of Lisle.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Lowe battled a chronic illness for years, overcoming many obstacles. He was a loving husband and father and a loyal friend. His family and friends celebrate his life and with his passing, his wholeness.
