- Ms. Jennifer Cara Carden, 34, of Valley died Tuesday, July 25, 2000 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, July 27 at 11 a.m. at Happy Valley Baptist Church in Lanett with the Rev. Rusty Letson officiating. Burial will follow in Shawmut Cemetery in Lanett.

Ms. Carden is survived by her daughter, Rachael Cheyenne Carden of Valley; her son, Ethan Ellis Carden of Valley; her mother and step-father, Jo Ann Oliver and Jim Pieratt; three brothers, Alan Smith of LaGrange, Steve Smith of Huguley and Tom Lavender of Smiths, Ala.

Born Dec. 31, 1965 in Valley, Ms. Carden was a graduate of Valley High School and Troup Tech in LaGrange. She worked at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. She was a member of Happy Valley Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Hugh Linwood Smith.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 26 from 7 until 9 p.m. at McCarthy Funeral Home in West Point.
