Mrs. Marie Hill Meehan, age 83, died Friday, October 21, 1988 at her home in the Pine Bluff Community. Funeral services were held Sunday, October 23 at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel in West Point. Burial was in Pine Bluff Cemetery with the Rev. Leslie Dodson officiating. Special music was provided by Mrs. Cora Dendy, Pianist and Miss Beth Harpole, soloist.
The daughter of the late Walden N Hill and the late Ina Durham Hill, she was a lifelong resident of Clay County. She was a former school teacher, a retired baby-sitter and a homemaker. She was the widow of the late Robert Emmett Meehan and was a member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Mae Pate of Mantee; one niece, Mrs. Jean Dendy of Mantee; one nephew, Joe Lee Pate of West Point; three great nieces, Misses Allison Blake, Manesha Blake and Suzanne Blake, all of Cedar Bluff and two great nephews, Joey Pate of Springfield, Missouri and Jeff Pate of West Point.
Active pallbearers were Donald Moore, Dan Vaughn, Lamar Dendy, Leotis Pate, Vern McNeel and Billy Wooten. Honorary pallbearers were Guy Vaughn, John Edd Snell, Morris Wright, Carey Wright, Roy Hurst, John Crowley, Bilbo McNeel Sr., Clinton Pate and Rudolph Sanders.
Memorials may be made to the Pine Bluff Cemetery Association.
Calvert Funeral Home of West Point was in charge of arrangements.
