ESCALANTE - Melvin Alvey passed away November 8, 2003, at home at the age of 95 years. He was the oldest person living in Escalante.
Melvin was born Jan 20, 1908 to Samuel and Lucinda Jane Alvey. He married Florence Prince Sept 2, 1952, in the Manti Temple.
They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary last year with their children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, and their three children, Helen (John Richard) Pruitt, Lucinda (Neuman) Duncan, Melvin Wayne (Siri Draper) Alvey; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Samuel James, John William, Lucinda Jane (Sherman) Woolsey, Nephi Elwin, Eliza May Porter, Minerva Ann Kallas, Hosea Jennings, Arnold M.; and infant grandson, Christopher Wayne Alvey.
Services will be Wed. Nov 12, 2003, 1 p.m. Escalante Stake Center, where family and friends may visit Wed. 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Burial, Escalante Cemetery. Directors, Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield, UT.
