He grew up on the family farm and attended country school through the eighth grade. After marriage, they lived and worked on the Ahrendt family farm. He retired in 1987, but they continued to live on the farm. He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hardwick, where he had served as an elder, trustee and usher and on various committees, and current member of First Presbyterian Church, Luverne. Orland had served on the ASCS board and was a member of Thrivent.
Orland & Agnes are the parents of Ruth Ann Ahrendt, Loretta (John) Teune, Ken (Pauline) Ahrendt, Walter (Anna) Ahrendt and David Ahrendt. Orland had step-children Steven Meyer, Nancy (Marc) Cooper, Bill (Fiona) Meyer, Kathy (Alan) McArthur, Sandi (John) Hagen, LeAnn Beaty and Robert (Kim) Meyer.
There are 12 grandchildren; 18 step grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 12 step great grandchildren.
Funeral service was held from First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Terry Morse officiating.
