Jaunice Guthrie Westerfield, 68, of Crawford, Texas, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2010, in a Temple hospital. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 21, at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel in Belton.

Nevada Jaunice was born in the vanished community of Sparta, Texas, to the late William Ernest Guthrie and Dorothy Leona Smith Guthrie. She married Ralph Westerfield on December 30, 1959, in Temple and was a homemaker. She loved her family and opened her home and heart to animals and cared for them like her babies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, on August 17, 2006; and brothers, Bill Guthrie and Joe Dean Guthrie.

Survivors include sons, Keith Westerfield, and Kevin Westerfield and wife, Sandra, all of Crawford; grandchildren, Miranda and Camron Westerfield; brothers: Thurman Guthrie, Jack Guthrie, and Kenneth Guthrie, all of Belton; sisters, Kathy Staton, of Temple, and Pat True, of Belton; as well as many other relatives and friends.
