Nettie Bernice Smithey, 80, of Stockdale, Texas, passed away in Seguin on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006.
She was born to John Roe and Rutha Indiana (McGuffin) Dixon on Oct. 8, 1925, in Wilson County.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Elmer Neff Smithey; a son, Ira Smithey; her brother, Herbert Dixon; and a sister, Johnnie Quinney.
Bernice is survived by her daughters, Katherine Irwin and Joan Fowler and husband Larry, all of Stockdale; grandchildren Richard Phillips Jr., Sarah Raj, Nancy Orrender, and Kristal Fowler; a sister, Nellie Phillips of Hillsboro; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation was held Sunday, Sept. 3, from 4-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Stockdale.
A funeral service took place Monday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Darrell Phillips and the Rev. Gary Irwin officiated.
Interment followed in the Stockdale Cemetery
