Melvin Louis Adams, 58, of Clarkton, Mo., died Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at Three Rivers HealthCare North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born June 11, 1944, in Jonesboro, Ark., son of Curtis Melvin Adams, of Gideon, Mo. and the late Pearl Angelina Goodon Adams, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam, a member of the American Legion and the Stanfield Baptist Church in Gideon. He was employed at Plastene Supply in Portageville, Mo.

Survivors include four sons, Curtis, Roy and Christopher Adams, all of Clarkton and Daniel Adams, of Decatur, Mich.; two daughters, Angela Johnson, of Clarkton and "Nancy" Jessica Loos, of Scottsbluff, Neb.; three brothers, James "Butch" Adams, of Joplin, Mo., Roy Adams, of Copperas Cove, Texas and Ronnie Cato, of Blytheville, Ark.; seven sisters, Barbara Farthing, of Dalton, Neb., Linda Turner, of Sidney, Neb., Ann McPherson and Dee Brown, both of Lawton, Okla., Iris Puttney, of Richmond, Va., Aline Viverette, of Portageville and Sharon Davis, of Cushing, Okla.; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Anthony Scott Adams.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Friday, July 5, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.

Burial with military rites willfollow at the Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton.
